Barrhaven Accomplishments
- Secured over $1 billion in infrastructure investments for Barrhaven
- Worked with provincial and federal officials to build the Strandherd-Armstrong bridge
- Delivered numerous public transit improvements for Barrhaven, including: Strandherd Park-and-Ride, Fallowfield Transit Station, and the new South-West Transit extension
- Successfully secured funding for the expansion of Fallowfield, Woodroffe and Strandherd roads
- Kept residents on the move by initiating the construction of roundabouts throughout the community.
- Helped establish the Barrhaven Business Improvement Area (BBIA) in 1998 – the first of its kind in Nepean
- Invested over $250,000 in improvements to the Ruth E. Dickinson Library that is now the most popular children's library in Ottawa
- Ensured a high standard of living for residents of Barrhaven by building consensus around the council table and having a strong vision
- Worked closely with community groups on the annual Canada Day event in Barrhaven which has become one of the best celebrations in all of Ottawa
- Continuously supported community groups in their efforts to deliver events and recreation opportunities
- Supported military veterans in the community by working with the city and legion to build a memorial in honour of Barrhaven veterans
- Worked with residents and city officials to establish long-term care facilities in Barrhaven
- Has been a long-standing member of the Carleton Lodge long-term care board
City-wide Accomplishments and Appointments
- Worked with the community to raise over $500,000 for the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Center at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, the Ottawa Public Library and, the South Nepean Autism Centre
- As Vice-Chair of the Audit, Budget and Finance committee, city officials have come to better understand the city's monthly expenses and revenues which, in turn, has saved taxpayers money
- Championed the burying of hydro lines across the city
- Chair of the Ottawa Community Land Development Corporation
- Former Chair of Energy Ottawa
- Board member of Ottawa Hydro Holding Inc., which has returned $90 million in dividends to ratepayers to residents
- Board member for five years on SCO Health Services, in support of Bruyere Hospital, and chaired the Community Advisory Committee
- City liaison for long-term care for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario
- One of five City of Ottawa councillors on the intensification implementation committee, which focuses on the review of development charges and policies, Ottawa's urban boundary, burying of hydro lines, and urban and suburban differences
- Chair of Ottawa Public Library – President of Canadian Library Trustee Association – Director on the board of the Canadian Library Association and Urban Library Council of North America
- Long-serving member of Planning and Environment Committee
